Subject: Proposed Emergency Homeless Shelter in Sutherland Forest Grove (SFG)

 

Dear SFG Residents and Community Members,

 

We became aware, via the media, of a newly proposed Temporary Emergency Residential Shelter to be located at 421 Central Avenue in the former Fire Hall No. 5 for operation in the Spring of 2024.  Please refer to the City’s website below for more details:

There will be two Neighbourhood Information Sessions:

Monday, March 11, 2024 @ 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.    RESCHEDULED BY CITY OF SASKATOON

Tuesday, March 12, 2024 @ 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  RESCHEDULED BY CITY OF SASKATOON

Location TBA

The main purpose of these sessions will be to obtain “Attendees’ feedback on ways to best integrate a new shelter into the area/neighbourhood along with helping the City, Government of Saskatchewan and service provider (The Mustard Seed) understand expectations of any businesses or residents living near the facility.”

The City Council vote is scheduled on February 28th, 2024 at 6pm, at City Hall to approve the shelter. POSTPONED BY CITY OF SASKATOON
